How To Complete Your KYC Verification as a Creator On Selfany

To sell products or withdraw your earnings on Selfany, all creators must complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. This helps us ensure secure, compliant transactions across the platform. Here’s exactly what you need to submit, how to upload it, and how long the review process takes.

What You’ll Need To Submit

You’ll need three main types of documents, and yes, they must be current, clear,  valid, genuine and unfiltered. Here’s the breakdown:

1. Proof of Address (Issued Within the Last 3 Months)

We need to confirm where you live, not just for legal compliance, but to verify you’re a real human, not a robot running a shady side hustle.

Accepted documents include:

  • - Utility bills (electricity, water, internet, etc.)
  • Bank statements with your address
  • Lease or tenancy agreements
  • Government-issued letters or correspondence
  • Voter’s card (if address and date are visible)

Make sure:

  • Your full name and current residential address are clearly visible
  • The document is recent and within the last 3 months
  • It's a real document (no Canva mock-ups, please!)

2. Proof of Identity (Photo ID + Selfie)

After you uploaded the scanned front and back copies

You then need to upload a copy with your ID next to your face and take a selfie. So we can put a face to the name on your ID. 

You’ll need to upload:

  • A government-issued photo ID(Examples: International Passport, Residency Permit, Driver’s License, NIN slip/card, Voter’s Card)
  • A selfie of you holding the ID next to your face. 

Requirements:

  • Entire face and ID must be clearly visible
  • All details on the ID must be legible
  • Submit the front and back of the ID (if applicable)
  • No filters, no edits, no Snapchat ears (tempting, we know)

3. Bank Statement & Supporting Docs

To make sure your earnings go to the right place (and not a random cousin's account), we’ll need:

  • A bank statement showing your:
  • Full name
  • Bank account number
  • Bank’s name and logo
  • Date of issue (Not older than last 3 months) 

Heads up:

  • Your bank details must match the ones on your Selfany account
  • You may be asked for additional documents (e.g., invoices, proof of payment) if something looks off, just to keep everything legit.
  • Visit Customer Account Settings, fill out your bio details and profile picture. 

If there are discrepancies in your names across documents, upload a short purpose statement explaining why (e.g., marriage, abbreviation, typo).

How To Submit Your KYC Documents On Selfany

Submitting your KYC info on Selfany is simple. Here's the 3-step flow:

Step 1: Upload via Your Dashboard

  • Log in to your Account 
  • Go to your Creator Dashboard 
  • Navigate to your Store / Drive / Fan page > KYC Verification
  • Upload your three required documents under the correct categories

The KYC tab is where you’ll upload:

  • Your Proof of Address
  • Your Government-issued ID + Selfie
  • Your Bank Statement

Click the "Add KYC Docs" button and follow the prompts.

Step 2: Wait for Review (1–3 Business Days)

  • Our compliance team will review your documents for accuracy and authenticity
  • You may receive an email if clarification or additional documents are needed

Step 3: Get Approved

  • Once approved, your account status will be updated to "Approved"
  • You’ll then unlock the ability to:
  • Receive payouts
  • Access full creator features

Important Notes (Don’t Skip These)

  • No verified KYC = No payouts You can upload your products, start selling, but ensure you get your KYC provided quickly so we can approve them. 
  • Fake or edited documents = Trouble. As in, account suspension or permanent ban kind of trouble.
  • Your documents and data are safe. We’re fully compliant with global data privacy laws, and only our internal compliance team sees your info.

KYC FAQs – Quick Answers for Curious Creators

1. What’s the fastest document combo I can use to get verified?

Use your Passport, NIN or Driver’s License, a utility bill, and a recent bank statement.

2. What if my name is slightly different on my documents?

That’s okay — upload a purpose statement explaining the difference (e.g., married name, shortened version, typo, and we may require a court affidavit).

3. Can I use my CAC certificate as proof of address?

No, but it can be submitted as supporting documentation for business verification. You still need a personal or business address document (like a utility bill).

4. Can I get verified using just my passport?

No. Your passport is great for ID, but you also need proof of address and a bank statement to complete the KYC.

5. Do I have to complete KYC before creating/selling a product?

Nope! You can start building/selling your product, but your payouts will not be processed until your KYC is received and approved.

6. How long does it take to get verified?

Usually 1–3 business days, depending on how clear your documents are and whether we need additional info (e.g., invoices, product delivery). If required, upload the document by selecting the option that says ‘Proofs’ on the KYC tab
